Variations on a theme of 'Wayfaring Stranger' is a collaborative movement and music work, created by myself and Reuben Ard. The work comes out of a (non-intentional) practice-as-research project between the two, exploring the possibilities and embodiment of the classic music form themes and variations.

 

The work takes the traditional American folk song Wayfaring Stranger, and is unpicked in terms of phrasing, melody and rhythm, scored for piano, djembe and human body.
